this was the first coldplay album i ever listened to. if you've never listened to coldplay before––what musicality, what production quality. it's so good. essentially this album is like a little story they're telling about friendship, revolution, and integrity. but beyond the fact that this is a rock opera, just listening to the music makes you soar. coldplay excels at creating landscapes of sound that make you feel layers of indescribable emotions. i especially love the transition pieces that connect everything together. i will forever gush about the transition between mylo xyloto and hurts like heaven, or the transition between a hopeful transmission and don't let it break your heart. you will feel like a new person after one full listen-through. (my favorites on this album are every teardrop is a waterfall and don't let it break your heart. they just make me feel so much.)

this is literally one of my favorite albums ever. by any group. ever. it's so good. with coldplay, you're really meant to listen to their albums in one stretch, and when you do, it's just pure magic. i can't put into words the emotions i feel in this album. it wrenches your heart out like you've just experienced heartbreak for the first time. i listen to this at night with the windows open and a breeze through my hair, or in my car in the mornings, or while holding the hands of my friends. it always feels like i'm listening and hearing and feeling for the very first time. i love you coldplay. your songs get me through life. never stop. (my favorite songs on this album are true love and o. so raw and emotional. also love the way it loops back to the beginning. wait, the album's only 40 min long? i could've sworn it was at least 5 hrs...)
