I would say this is a good horror movie I want to say 3. I saw it on Tubi in comparison to the rest five stars. This movie had key parts that made no sense. This movie does not deserve five stars. You would have to overlook all the following to do that.
The Good: The movie has a great story as for as it's concept and amazing acting all around. The spirit was very active in comparison to most movies I have watched. The actions of the main cast except the brother were very believable. The development of Annabelle as a mother, Victoria development away from the spirit. Jean actually really cared for the girls.I like this movie overall. It's a good movie to watch at least once. It's not terrible by any stretch. The plot twist with the doctor is readable looking at his character. I did like the usage of the characters.
The bad: The girls not being found for years, but magically anybody can find this cabin. Lilly eating moths (black mess on her mouth) and no one questions it. The dad being a murderer and almost killing the kids himself then begging his brother to save his children is very conflicting. The brother being in the hospital and never went home to check on the children after saying he had one more day with a woman who vocalized her struggles with the situation. He wanted those kids, and she is not the ones related to them. I could be wrong It felt like he was there way longer than than one more day. Mama's story is confusing and doesn't fully develop. The ending is very very bad. What Lily does is justifiable considering she was with the spirit practically since birth. However Annabelle going after Lilly and warming her hands shows the development in there relationship. Victoria not pleading with her sister to come to her instead of the spirit was very questionable. However Annabelle giving the spirit what it needs to move on. The director messed up really bad there and I dropped the movie a point for me. Again I don't know how people said five stars. That cliff scene, no real mother would do that especially based on the spirit's real life. The director was trying way too hard. Annabelle's development as a mother to the kids is not respected by the spirit is a bit baffling at the end. As a director you got to make a choice is the spirit is just evil. What are we going for here? You did all this amazing work to ruin your ending trying to be complex. It's the only thing that keeps the movie for me from being something to rewatch to a one and done.
