When I first watched The Dark Crystal, I didn't like it. Nothing made sense, I didn't care for any of the characters, and I was left with more questions than answers. Then, here comes along a 10 hour TV show based on the film. I was intrigued, and decided to try it out. That was the best decision I've ever made. You can tell that every single person who worked on this project cared. The attention to detail on the puppets and sets is breathtaking. The practical affects with just a hint of CGI creates the perfect blend to bring the world of Thra to life. The story was magnificent, and it helped answer many of the questions I had from the film. At first it was pretty slow, and for the longest time I couldn't differentiate the blond gelflings from one another. But as the series went on, it got better and better. You just have to be patient! After I finished the show, I watched the movie for the second time and LOVED IT. Everything made so much more sense, and in a way it felt like the grand finale to the show. Unfortunately, Netflix has not renewed Age of Resistance for a second season, but who knows. I bet no one expected a show based on a dark children's puppet movie to come out 40 years after the original film's release. That just goes to show that anything is possible. I highly, HIGHLY recommend this show, and if you don't have Netflix, it's worth the subscription just to experience this masterpiece. Jim Henson would be proud.
