The richest show I’ve seen in the past month. Jez Butterworth’s (Jerusalem, Ferryman) paints a heart wrenching picture of four daughter’s gathering at their mother’s deathbed. Jumping from 1976 to the early 50’s, the daughter’s stories are uncovered. Sam Mendes deftly hides his scenic designer, Rob Howell, and actors to such provocative storytelling. Laura Donnelly shocks and amazing. This is a major new work from Butterworth and I loved it!
