I think it was okay for what it was but it stereotyped EVERY white southern man as a racist, and that simply is not historically accurate.

The film took a good minute to "get there" but it was a good movie, not a great movie but you won't go out feeling like you wasted your money. It would have been nice if it expounded a few scenes and cut back others but it flowed okay. The plot twist in the end was a nice piece since you really never see it coming until just before it happens. Also, the ending was kind of mushy , definitely not where I would have closed it out, but again it was a good , sugary, Fairy Tale, stereotypical Disney Movie. it followed the Disney "pattern" to the very core.
