A new modern cult classic. Barmy, intriguing, beguiling, unsettling, tense and disturbing. Great acting makes a sometimes mind-bending script unsettling and disturbingly relatable. At times the sense of claustrophobic weirdness reminded me of some of the best Dr Who, parallels are always going to be drawn of course to the wicker man but ultimately what makes this tick is the primeval humanity of a community in fear.

A procedural drama, which is actually high on drama, characters who are developed enough to be interesting and likeable or dislikeable as you take them, mostly without cliche. Plot lines that have grit but feel believable, not quite realism but that wouldn't be escapism and even some time for humour, served dark. Fast paced but not too fast as to overwhelm. Captivating and sometimes disturbing. Entertaining and memorable. Overall a perfect TV recipe, even for someone who would usually scream their boredom at another TV cop show. Outstanding, must see.
