One of the worst books I’ve ever read. Wanted a thriller, but this reads more like a poorly written romance novel. And the romance is hard to buy into because there is no background or character development for either of the main characters. I don’t think we even got a physical description of Calvin. There is no development of the “thriller” aspect of the plot in at least the first half of the book, and when she finally starts leaving hints about the plot, they just don’t really work. And there are many aspects of the boom that had me thinking, yeah I don’t think that’s plausible at all, even in an over the top mystery thriller. What makes it really hard to read though is the excessive use of odd and cliched metaphors. At first it was funny and finally I was like okay enough. Wish I could get my time back from this one.
