Wanted this to be so much better, and it likely would have been without all the musical interludes. Love Joaquin but couldn't get past the first half hour. I am down for artistic expression, but we're talking 3 or 4 sections in the first 30 minutes. Make a movie and do the old fashion thing from the 80's and 90's: release music videos after the fact. Perhaps it's a me thing, I've always loathed musicals, grew up having to sit through the damn things. But yeah, no better way to ruin a film for me. Saddened by this one.

Story is all over the place, hard to keep watching to be honest. Itnactually got boring the more they tried throwing things at the wall to make it stick. And the scene when the sing in the car. Impressive voice, but if I want to watch a musical... I never want to watch a musical. Ever. This coming from a fan of off the wall shows that make you think and wonder. This is just typical Hollywood trying to be something that should have maybe been done overseas, say in Germany or Norway. The two stars are bas8cally for the acting. I actually connected with some of the characters Big fail.

So refreshing to find movies like this where the focus is on the telling of the story with actual actors. No need for special effects distractions like so many Hollywood films to mask the sheer lack of... well, everything.
