This movie was bad for three main reasons. Reason one: the movie sacrifices interesting storytelling for the sake of artistic appeal.
Reason two: the meaning of the movie is that there is no meaning in the movie just as there is no meaning in life. This theme of meaninglessness is apparent in many scenes such as the kid who’s always asking “do you dare me?” To the scene at the end where the actor in the play is asking what his character means and how it’s supposed to act. This is not only lazy philosophy and self contradicting, but it’s also boring because the climax of the movie is finding out the whole movie is an Advertisement for nihilism. Reason three: it is a pain to sit through, the utter lack of a coherent meaning in the movie makes it super boring to watch. As aforementioned the movie is intended to be meaningless, but because of that there’s no reason to watch it to begin with, meaninglessness is just not appealing in a movie. We watch movies because they mean something deep that’s inexpressible in other mediums. Stories are incredibly important because they teach us how to act and what morals are right and wrong, but a movie without any meaning is like a car with no gas or an invisible shirt. Overall wouldn’t recommend movie sucked
