There are a number of differences between the show and the book where the whole intent and feel of the book struggles to be translated on screen. There is weird camera focus on the eyes of characters, Amelia is devoid of much content as a character but is supposed to be the main figure. She was supposed to have a stutter to show her angst at marrying Benji but that was removed in the series so the viewer doesn’t have much of a sense that she didn’t actually want to marry benji before the murder happened. I kept wanting to like the mini series but it really disappointed me.
