It was a good movie. Is it something amazing that you must see? No. Was it a terrible movie? I don’t think so. You can’t go into this movie with high expectations. You have to remember The Sopranos gave you about 86 hours of story line. This story line is reduced to 2 hours. You can’t expect much, especially if you never watched the sopranos, then please don’t watch this of course because you wouldn’t get it. This isn’t necessarily a “Tony origin story”. It’s just a small story that takes place in the 60s that has younger sopranos members in it. They do a great job of fan service. Some of it may be over the top, but wasn’t the sopranos a bit over the top? Anyone remember “gabagool? Over heeereeee”. Sopranos had funny stupid moments like that. This does a perfect job of sticking to those funny moments. The acting was brilliant. Could they have done a million things with this story line? Of course they could have. But they chose this path and you have to take it for what it is. They do a good job at showing some of Tonys character development. They play on him seeing a therapist, where he gets his mannerisms from, and the issues he had with his mother. I am satisfied with this movie, just like I am satisfied with the ending of the sopranos series. There is more than meets the eye.
