Just 5 days ago I had known them through name only and now they are in my top 5 artists of all time. The amount of talent this band has is frankly unfair. Having tapped into psychedelic, indie, prog, electronic, fusion, and metal genres, this album is of the latter sound this band covers. The album contains thrash, 80s power metal, speed metal, alternative rock, and prog influences. Think Metallica, maiden, priest, and Motorhead mixed with Mastodon and Tool's alternate and prog metal sounds. Speaking of which their most tool-influenced song is Dragon, which happens to be my favorite of the record. I love how the vocals and guitars are in harmony, and it is so tremendously noticeable in this album. It is my favorite thing about the band. King Gizzard is easily the best thing to happen in the last 15 years in the modern hard rock/metal genre with Mastodon being the second IMO. PetroDragonic Apocalypse is an easy 10 out of 10.
