This reminded me in a good way of The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov, not because of any specific plotting. It gets high marks from me for its creativity but t was completely turned off by the pretentious word selection—-here’s an example: the kids masticated their gum! Over and over again this ridiculous tendency sreamed— he needed an editor. Prior to reading this, I read all of his other novels and I am a huge admirer. Save The Intuitionist for last, or skip it.
