David Campbell

We can easily forget how difficult life was for gay men during the era in which this movie takes place, and certainly in the South where religious beliefs could, and still can be, so narrow. This is a very believable story of a young girl maturing past her family's small world and of her uncle who ran from that small world to find himself and find love. The tragedy revealed toward the end makes this movie a very powerful statement of redemption and self acceptance.
