Vanilla sky is a story which comes out very unexpected as we reach the 45 minute barrier. The theme of the movie goes from one topic to another but each emphasizing something really significant. The ending makes everything "lucid"(internal joke). However i believe it kept the viewers confused for too long about the situation and without dropping any big hint(except the visuals towards the end) about the ground reality. This i believe might have been the reason of the film's such poor rating by IMDb. No matter how brilliant the script is in itself with heart-warming performances by Tom Cruise ,and the whole cast with little bits of advises along the way, it still had a little too chaotic display of scenes. It may be justified that it accentuates the final concept in itself, but still is a problematic factor. Otherwise the theme of melancholia and being lost is portrayed in a proficient and artistic way with some solid life tips, and of course that little touch of science fiction when blends in with a love story, creates a whole different genre.
