Christian Bale, Amy Adams, and Steve Carell give ferociously visceral performances. All three melt the celluloid (well, HD video). Mr. Bale is the uber chameleon, acting with the virtuosity and commitment of a brain surgeon. Mr. Mckay's script and direction is off the wall original, part farce, part drama, part comedia del'arte. He breaks the fourth wall and then plunges us into a spot on political examination of power and corruption. His Macbeth is a fully realized monster, outshining the Bard himself. The world has indeed gone crazy and all our basic human instincts for love and compassion are devoured by greed and the sanitary execution that drone warfare allows. Bravo.. The art of filmmaking with a Picasso like perfection.. You made me laugh, cry, think, and angry.
