Do yourself a favor and don't watch this, you'll be wasting your life in a movie that is about NOTHING. This is the most overrated piece of garbage I've watch so far in my life, I don't want to be harsh just for the sake of it so you've got to understand the context of this movie being filmed in 2003, how globalization wasn't a very big deal and how little the main characters knew about Japanese culture/society but this movie is literally about nothing, nothing was gained at the end of it, nothing was learned or experienced besides an uneasy feeling of watching an 18 y/o Scarlett "Mistreated Wife" Johansson kissing with a much more older Bill "Bill Murray in Japan" Murray. This movie is basically about these two individuals who meet in Japan and who are presented to this different culture of people who really don't care about speaking English (as they should) based on how Anglos (Americans specially) believe that the rest of the world should bow to them and speak in English because that's their language. I'd imagine this movie is popular among them because how different Japanese culture is and they look at them as some sort of disdain of how weird they are compared to them, nonce. I'd rather watch a marathon of back to back to back to back Paul Blart Mall Cop movie than this ever again.
