Huge fan of Andy Nyman so was very excited and pre ordered this book.
The start is a slow build but full of magic and 1950s Soho nostalgia. Twists and turns seem to come thick and fast. But then the twists require ever increasing levels of suspended disbelief. The story become clunky and the big reveals are totally improbable and lack the buzz and excitement of the start of the book.
Until about half way through I really thought this was going to become an anthology series akin to James Bond meets Houdini - and I was all in for that.
Maybe there’s still a possibility for Dinah and the Brains Trust to be that dynamic conjuring crime fighting crew.
