I am an avid listener of the Rethinking Wellness podcast and Christy’s older podcast called Food Psyche. Both are excellent podcasts for anyone recovering from an eating disorder or disordered eating, those who love sufferers or just about anybody who wants to ope thier eyes to the craziness. I was really excited to read her latest book The Wellness Trap.
So far I am loving the book. It is well researched and chock full of healthy and sane perspectives on how to be well for real.
As usual, Christy cuts through the BS that we are constantly soaked in culturally about our health with facts and down to earth wisdom.
I am grateful for her tireless work to help us begin to stop hurting ourselves when we think we are helping ourselves with unsustainable and often dangerous wellness trends and fads that promise perfect health and lasting weight loss.
Her thoughts and findings help us wake up to deeper truths about what is actually health and wellness for us as individuals. She leads us out of the rabbit holes of internet searches for the perfect diet that will save us from our ills. She does this with respect, compassion and understanding of why we are prey to and follow these trends. Christy is a heroine and a leader in her field. She stands out of the crowd due to her solid understanding of what it’s like to feel sick and really want an answer or cure already. I will be following this woman and adding her paid prescription podcast to my tool bag for a voice of reason in a chaotic sea of ridiculous hype and dangerous messages to further support my recovery from body hatred, orthorexia and the resulting bulimia. Thank you Christy!
