Wow! Ana de Armes was possessed Norma Jean in her performance! I never thought anyone would be able to give a convincing portrayal of her. I’ve been bewitched by her since I was a kid. She was unique and I believed no one could ever be able to imitate her. But I was swept away completely. I totally understand why some have had a visceral reaction to the movie. It’s unconventional, confrontational and disturbing, but that was a big part of what her life was like, anyone who believes differently has a two dimensional view of her life. This movie is not for people who believe female movie icons of the 20th century lived a fairy tale life. Anyone who truly knows Norma Jean’s story knows her life was an extremely tragic story. Yes the film focuses deeply on the dark side but it’s what makes the film such a stand out, so wonderfully unique. An amazing film that highlights how an unbelievable talent and a fragile and intelligent person can be destroyed because they were born in a primitive time.
