Spoilers ahead - alert.
Pros - great creatures and English dubbing was well done.
Stumbled across this on Netflix and laughed a lot more than I should have, mostly over the unlikelihood of their reactions to situations and the very unlikeable characters.
Spoilt white child (Jose) doesn’t do as she’s told, takes a coconut looking elf home while trespassing in forbidden territory. Later she ignores the fact it kills a cat and treats the coconut like it’s a dog she’s had for 10+ years and simply can’t be without it.
When the village people return the coconut to its tree parents, Jose matches the speed of a truck on her bicycle, sneaks back into the forbidden area because she doesn’t want the coconut creature to be returned to its home and family - she even cries as departing from it, it’s been 24 hours love, c’mon.
Her parents are classic trouble causing gullible idiots who can happily sleep when their son goes missing but are prepared to put a whole villages safety at risk when they daughter goes into the restricted area…
Jose’s insubordination and longing for a pet causes several deaths and her mum reassures her she did nothing wrong… Zero repercussions and they return home after an interesting holiday. What a brat.
