I read Bonk two years ago, and am now revisiting it for a project. I loved this book when I first read it, but always though that Roach's tone when talking about specific cases involving sexual preference or experience seemed dismissive and even shaming. Now that I'm revisiting it, I'm shocked how anti-woman Roach seems to be, considering she's the author of a sex science book highlighting the inequality of sex. I especially find her discriptions of how "complicated" and "messy" female sexual response is to be incredibly harmful in trying to bridge the disparity in sex research. I love this book and think it's incredibly important, but I wish someone else had written it.
