As a kid, Pixar movies were the kind you put down then rewatch as you grow older. One I have always been able to rewatch and get inspiration from was Ratatouille. In the beginning sequence, we are shown Anton Ego disagreeing with Chef Gostou in that “not everyone can cook.” Then the rest of the entire movie shows us that the chef was right. I love how there isn’t a strict plot it follows. Just Remy putting his art into the world in a funny/clever way. We just see sequences of them making food, the two pair at Linguini’s house learning to live and learn from one another. As I am writing this, I have just rewatched it as a older individual. The sheer amount of work Brad Bird put into this is amazing. Ratatouille itself; I think tastes awful. This movie was able to make me want to try it again. Adults love it for the deep message and animation, kids can love it for the funny moments, chase scenes, and heck, why not throw in the elderly lady with a shotgun and gas mask. I have connected to this movie on such a deep level that it’s almost impossible not to give it five stars much like the Chef’s restaurant. I would also like to add, Chef Skinner made an amazing first half villain and how then ego takes the rest of the story. Yes, ego, not Ego. Remy’s thoughts of not needing Linguini, and Linguini’s thoughts of not needing Remy. The music and colors of this movie really just pull you in. If you have never watched this movie; I beg you to try it out. I’ll leave my compliments to the chef ~Keenon Hopple
