If you don't have the mental capacity to handle sensitive topics like social and political issues, you might have a breakdown watching this mini-series because it's quite depressing, to be honest. However, it totally opened my eyes about the dark side of military system the South Korea has. I was just hearing and seeing news about it before and to watch the depiction of what's really happening inside those fences with my very own eyes, hit me. It left me heartbroken. It left me battle scars. And it left me a note that hate and scares me the most even before. "Why didn't you do anything?" I remember one unforgettable quote I heard in (also) a Netflix docu-series and it goes: the ultimate power is seeing what's wrong and looking away when you have the power to make a difference. That's true evil. And so, I hope with this series, people will be moved. People will finally choose to do something that would make a better world because being asked, "why didn't you do anything?" when you know you can do something is the most devastating thing that could ever happen to anyone.

Honestly, this film gave me mixed emotions; right amount of curiosity in the beginning, patience, sadness, hope and finally happiness. Watching this film made me realize that people do something with reason. You just have to wait patiently for them, trust them because they'll come to you when they're ready. What Hyeon-u experienced pierced me. From the very beginning until what Mi Su did to him. I cried. "What did I do to deserve this?" that's what I thought of how Hyeon-u would be thinking at that exact moment when Mi Su decided to turn her back on him. It hurt me. So much. But in the end, it was all worth it. Mi Su let go of her fear, finally. So did Hyeon-u. I learned here that in life, ups and downs will really be a part of it no matter how you so badly want to avoid it. Sometimes, it is mostly lows but you have to trust the fate. You gotta keep moving even though you want to just give it all up. Even though you're tired. Even if you just want to stop. You gotta push through. Because those experiences that feels like pulling you backwards to wherever you want to go is actually the one helping you to aim better and achieve your goal.
