I just saw this film for the 1st time last week. Its not always easy for me to visualize scripture. It did a great job bringing the gospel of John alive. The acting was so on point as well. From the main characters, to the extras, they all did a great job. It is so easy for a movie like this to come out corny, but Cusick, in my opinion, gives us the best portrayal of Jesus. Caviezel did a great job and how he spoke the language of that time made it even more powerful. But Cusick’s portrayal was good in all aspects. How he carries himself, how he speaks, his delivery, his and everybody else’s facial expressions, all helped make the movie real. There were 4 or 5 scenes that were really powerful. The one scene where he is preaching to the Pharisees, and he stops teaching and walks up to one of the Chief Priest and point blank asked him: “Why are you trying to kill me”? It has a few really memorable scenes. It goes word by word, line by line and between the narration breaks and the actual scenes, it works very well.
