I tried not to have expectations because any time there is a spin off or a remake, it’s always a let down because you’re expecting it to be like the original. But. Yeah, I’m disappointed. So far I’ve given it to episode 4 and it’s it’s just sooooo … “Nickelodeon”. The acting is “ok” — not great, the writing is also ok — not great. It was nice seeing the OG group, but when I watch that 70s show, it was so well written that I would laugh over and over. It was also well framed around how kids— and parents actually were during that decade— where as this is just not. Outside of a few references to music, games, etc that are sprinkled in, you wouldn't even really know it was supposed to take place in the 90’s if it literally wasn’t called “That 90’s Show”. Maybe the 90s didn’t have the apparent unique qualities that the 70’s did so I guess the writers needed to work at it a little harder, but so far it really feels like a fail. It just seems like it lacks the attention to detail and humor that we were all hoping for. Anyway, I’m going to give it a few more episodes but if it doesn’t get better pretty soon, I’ll probably call it quits —which sucks because I have been looking forward to this for months.
