This movie in its way is great. Sandler is powerful. HOWEVER - it is seriously misrepresented as a crime thriller. This is a miserable, unhappy movie and should be drawing comparisons to movies like Leaving Las Vegas. It is NOT fun.

Why are movies like this marketed as comedy?? This is an utterly grim tale of a family coming apart. And not an artful or profound tale at that. Thank goodness for buttered popcorn or the evening would have been completely dark.

Quite disappointing, especially considering such a stellar cast. You cannot invest in these characters or the evolving plot because you are given no idea what is happening. It's not a kind of story telling that engages the audience.
