I totally agree with all the negative reviews. The people who say that this was exactly how college was like for them probably went to college in the 80s. I don't know if Yara is a good actress because I can't really tell a good one from a bad actor but I don't think she should have been the main character.
She was not interesting, funny or inspirational enough to have taken the lead. When I first heard about this show I knew it would be a disaster. Because though I liked her in blackish, I never thought she would be a good stand alone character. All she has going for her Grownish is that she is pretty and several dudes who like her. So if you're interested in romance and fluff, this is the perfect show for you. The things I do like about the show are the little facts I get from it.... that's it. The 'woke' references are so forced that they are no longer fire. When I watched Zoey from this show, I was surprised at how little she knew, it was like her role from Blackish was totally scrapped for this gullible girl that looked more like Miranda (the British sitcom) than the actual Zoey. The show doesn't do well on it's own as a college show because of it's focus on only romance. It also doesn't do well as a romantic show because of limited story line and content. If you're looking for real comedy, this wouldn't make you laugh. And the only thing it gets right is black representation and political correctness.
