Man, this book is tough to get through. I won't spoil the book, but let's just say that most of the action happens at the end of the first part [there are 6 (7 including the Epilogue) parts]. The remaining 5 parts consist of a *dense* description of Rodya's slow change.
Don't read this book if you're looking for light bedtime reading; it's not for the faint of heart.
Also, there is a bloody...incident...that is described iN dEtAiL, so make sure not to read it with your back facing the door...
That said, this book truly is a masterpiece of Psychological Realism, and it is essential in the development of the genre.
If you choose to read this book, enjoy it.
If you choose not to, fair enough.
