My dissapointement in this game can be summed up to three main reasons. First, and most obvious to anyone who has played BotW, is that this game does not add enough new things to justify being its own game. While there are tons of minor changes to the overworld, I found them generally inconsequential because the core gameplay feels unchanged, as is the plot. Secondly, I find the new vehicles and sky islands actually ruin the sense of organic exploration I loved in the first game by making the overworld too easy to traverse. Not to forget that I am meant to reexplore what I essential already did 6 years ago. Thirdly is that most of the annoying issues from BotW are here once again. Too many unskippable cutscenes, the same stale combat, a bazillion copy-paste korok missions, to name a few. It feels incredibly lazy. The game even runs on the same engine from the WiiU at 30fps. All that said, I don't hate this game but I don't see myself finishing it or getting the AAA experience I payed for. It is incredibly similar to BotW, which is a lovely game and one of my favorites, but certainly doesn't live up to the praise it has received. It's possible that I've changed and maybe it was naive to think TotK would give me the same magical feeling that BotW did, but I'm really dissapointed nonetheless.
