This game, put simply, is phenomenal. I’m so confident of this I’m posting this review after only just getting off the first island. Zelda has been a mainstay in my life ever since OoT. BOTW challenged my perception of a linear Zelda (let’s remember Zelda 1 followed the model of being able to complete the game straight away, arguably making it traditional) but that was a masterpiece. Somehow, those guys at Nintendo have improved a Masterpiece. The new areas are beautiful, and those all so familiar areas are now completely unrecognisable. The new abilities are fun, intuitive, a bit silly (who cares) and adds a new dynamic to the game. If you haven’t played BOTW, do that first, you’ll be so blown away and won’t even know what’s coming. TOTK is a genuine masterpiece, in every sense of the word.
