Jack Bickham's book is totally awesome. I can't say enough good things about it. If you have it in you to be a writer, you can't get all that you need from English books. They just don't teach the craft of writing a novel. You'll find the craft in Writing and Selling Your Novel. It is, in my personal opinion, the single most important book that a new novelist should study.
