Good movie worth the watch but lacks suspense or twists /turns to keep the audience engaged. A little more Masala would’ve helped. Movie doesn’t generate intensity of emotions within me - You don’t really feel sorry for anyone or surprised or angry. Just dull and setting of the house when there were no parties felt dull - no food on the stove - no “busy”ness shown in the lives of Kapoors, that’s a big part of the Indian American household. Why was Alia always annoyed towards the younger siblings - why wasn’t she or anyone comforting the younger siblings when the parents were contemplating divorced.
The director is raw and the whole movie lacks refinement and advancement. Feels like a low budget TV series. Why are NJ kids all going to UCLA USC and not colleges on the east coast. Was the director making a point that these kids want to be as away as possible from parents or was this a gap? I was frustrated at times especially since they showed bhairvi arriving at Kapoor with like no jewelry? Usually even lower middle class Indians have few pieces of fake jewelry in their homes. I felt technically it wasn’t perfect and even the shot showing large homes should’ve been subtle rather than directly showing the fancy homes …also why were everyone at the parties having issues. They didn’t show if the two girls were lesbians? There was missing clever come backs and sharp dialogues. Speaking of technical mismatches many actors looked very South Indians but had North Indian last name.
I enjoyed people pulling up to the party and showing off LOL that was funny but how everyone arrived at the SAME times ?!!
