There have of course been several film adaptations of this story with Peter Ustinov, Albert Finney and most recently Kenneth Branagh playing the lead role of Hercule Poirot. Each interpretation was in its own way highly creditable. However in my opinion David Suchet's performance in the defining one. In this story Poirot is forced to question the very foundations of his beliefs and principles and this internal struggle is brilliantly played by Suchet, who gives a most powerful and brooding performance. This version is for me the most true to the novel and provides a fascinating insight into the psyche of Hercule Poirot.

Very powerful film indeed, conveying the brutality and injustice of the Guantanamo prison system without being gratuitous in doing so. The final uplifting sequences are just that, and filmed without sentimentality which is a trap the film could have fallen into but didn't. The truth prevails but we are left with a bitter taste that this massive perversion of justice happened at all.

Millie Bobby Brown is a revelation as Enola Holmes in this charming , quirky and thoroughly entertaining film. Enola's search for her missing mother is really a metaphor for her search for herself and there is real poignancy in the dynamic of the relationship she shares with her mother compellingly played by the irrepressible Helena Bonham Carter.With a magnificent supporting cast and beautiful cinematography throughout, this film is an absolute delight.

David Crosby has a lot to get off his chest in this fascinating and brutally candid documentary. Filmed over a period of six weeks during an American tour Crosby takes us back in time to the key events in his life and talks frankly about his relationships with his musical collaborators, most of whom he has completely alienated. One thing is for sure, Crosby can still sing as gloriously as ever. Well worth a watch.

Shades of 2001 A Space Odyssey in that there is some kind of mysterious black monolithic entity involved. However 2001 was a masterpiece and this is a massive disappointment. Big plot holes, unconvincing acting, and most of all extremely dull...found my attention wandering unfortunately...

Whether or not you are a fan of the Western, I would totally recommend this wonderful film. Beautifully shot, superbly acted, highly thought provoking, both comedy and tragedy. The Ballad of Buster Scruggs provides a telling insight into the foibles, both light and dark of human nature.
