As much as I love the Fast and Furious family, the storyline has evolved from what came to be loved as a racing movie, to what appears to be a blown out of proportional "Mission Impossible" meets "McGyver" meets (insert bad acting movie of your choice). Jason Mamoa's character in the movie almost identically matches the Joker charaters of Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger from the Batman movies. While he pplays one hell of a villanous role, he fits absolutely nowehere into the storyline for any of the Fast movies, and the fact he is living at the end means the next movie will almost certainly be as horribly scripted. I would love to see this same side of Mamoa in a different movie.
Let's also talk about bringing back the dead. Han is brought back which is outstanding, but how? Nothing in terms of how he lived is mentioned. He has died by my count three times, yet, here he is again. Gisele (Gal Gadot) is shown coming back at the very end of Fast X emerging from a submarine. Like how does this happen? She fell out of a plane many many stories up into an explosion, yet, there she was. All we need now to come full circle is for Elena (Elsa Pataky) and Vince (Matt Schulze) to emerge from the smoke somewhere.
Finally, the writing and most acting is just terrible. With notable exceptions to Tyrese, Ludacris, Michelle, Charlize and Brie, the acting otherwise was way too over the top, similar to how the Marvel movies have devolved into since the death of Stan Lee.
The series is dead. The storyline is either going to have to go back to what made the series so good to begin with, or just kill it off altogether. If nothing changes, it will go down the path as so many good movie series of the past where developers and writers did not know when to quit, and end up wrecking what was a perfectly good storyline.
