Felt like a video game. it kept visually moving and made sort of feel on the edge of my seat. After all, i want to get lost in a movie, i dont go to criticize a movie. Its an escape or entertainment. But on a real world historical retelling i felt somehow tricked by the visual shenanigans of todays abilities.
It goes from a orphan baby and compatible female, to a bare handed murder,to raging river (which was dead calm in the previous scene ) to a sudden waterfall to a nostalgic cherry flower ticker parade to a pts moment of corpse crawling to a forest acapelo concert, to a death announcement to quiet prairie moment of reflection on some non contextualized picture.
I get movie are visual stories not words.
But its gotten to a tipping point. Like how nike is not about tennis or shoes. Its what younger people get sucked into to sooth in an identity struggle. But as you get older you move on. Its a fancy movie,
Like the 3d mobile game that captured me for a month until i came to my senses and thankfully quit cold turkey, many months ago with no regrets!
This movie made me want the quit spending good money and time on movies.
It doesn’t seem impressive that on hg tv if you spend gobs of money, you can mAke a house look better! But at least there are some real characters.
This moves wants to be about loyalty to a commander and to a division of soldiers and to a friend.
But its feels loyalty to royalties. A self absorbed director who can raise money for the 1% on the backs of obedient movie escapists.
Like the corporal who delivers the money from the general. Its just what we do.
I have often felt cinema would save art itself. I am not so sure any more?
Like the fireworks we light to celebrate old war victories. They are
Over rated, over budget and underwhelmed.
A sarcastic Ew la la!,
The art of the one percent! Directors , who could possibly live on the coast in Malibu, work out of some mobile trailer somewhere else and miss most breakfast views over looking the breaking waves and ocean sky colors. Making movies we have to do the same to go see. Think ill stay home next time. Enough is enough.
