The artistic creativity was absolutely beautiful. It’s so important that while you watch the movie you truly pay attention. A lot of people don’t like it but I absolutely loved it. The acting was spectacular! The body language, facial expressions, awkward silences, all of it so was realistic and relatable. You have to truly take advantage of those silent moments and observe the both of them. You can see Free (Meagan) taking deep breaths before she’d finally build up the courage to try and start a conversation with him again. Or awkwardly rubbing herself for comfort and sneaking glances at him when the conversation fell flat. The movie itself was something I had never seen before. It was clear that Cass (Omari) had abandonment issues, which was why he was always so quick to assume that Free (Meagan) had to leave all the time. And Free (Meagan) was fresh out of an abusive relationship. She looked at men as if every man was going to hurt her. In the club bathroom when the two of them were kissing, she was all for it but once she realized what was going on she pushed him off of her. She looked at him like a player, like he did that with every woman he met. It wasn’t until he fought those guys for her that she realized he would protect her. She even said it herself that he fought for her and all her ex did was fight her. And when he apologized to her for what happened in the bathroom because he THOUGHT he hurt her, she realized that he never would hurt her like her ex did. For him, he was a tough cookie to crack. He shut down easy, has a fear of abandonment, rejection, and showing his emotions. A lot of the time when Free (Meagan) is looking at him, you can tell she’s trying to figure out what he’s thinking. And gradually as the night went on her persistence paid off and he began to open up. The two of them healed areas in each other that they were broken In. It truly takes a certain type of person to appreciate art like this, and that’s completely fine. But don’t knock the movie just because it’s not what you were expecting or because you thought it was boring. Once I started it I got sucked in. Wanting the know what was on each of their minds and how it would play out in the end.
