Kudos to Kiran Rao and Amir Khan.
Watched Lapata Ladies in a Theatre which was almost full on a Sunday.
I truly appreciate how you have conveyed the need for empowerment of women in rural India, through a simple story. Also you highlighted the male domination, dowry system, disrespect to women and suppressing the ambitions and dreams of young girls by parents....all this and much more in a story of exchange of wives because of wearing long ghunghat.
Hats off, not once, any character in movie ridiculed or criticized any of Indian traditional customs but still very effectively and strongly expressed how these customs make life miserable and complicated.
I have no words to appreciate that though the artists were not so famous or well known stars but each character has left an unforgettable mark in the movie. Such natural, simple flawless natural acting by these SUPERSTARS. You guys are sure to get many more accolades from the critics and the experts of cinema industry.
Lastly, Kiran...your debut is super successful movie for sure. This movie reflects your own simple, natural and strong character in every frame. Heartiest congratulations to the entire team involved in making this movie.
Looking forward to many more from you dear Kiran.
