Great acting, locations and soundtrack but those are the only things that worked. Filled with largely unspectacular jump scares and forgettable ghouls. Not a patch on the older films, sadly. Not really that scary, it kept building up to scenes that turn out to be disappointing.

Looking forward to season 2, sometimes it seems like the show doesn't know where it's headed but once you get halfway through season 1 it comes together and the punchlines reveal themselves, compounding to become funnier and funnier as the crew panic and make increasingly bad decisions. The cast is brilliant, with Hugh Laurie's role an amusing nod to his stellar diverse career in British comedy and American drama. Every character contributes beautifully to make the show bleakly hysterical. The premise of hundreds of spoilt, entitled, rude rich people on a luxury space cruise gone wrong and fueled by knee jerk slogans, the loudest voices, and fake news is delicious and feels horrifically plausible because it's so close to home. Season 2 looks very promising.

Kelly Macdonald (Scottish) and Garrett Hedland play the lead protagonists in Tim Winton's beloved WA novel because, clearly, Australia has ran out of actors. The breathtaking scenery and poignant loneliness is downplayed in the film adaption and comes across more as unsubtle, prolonged moping in the middle of nowhere (likely Yanchep). Character complexity is out the window for a bite-sized story which serves to rob the key players of plausible motivation and depth. Not even blondie's aggravated hair-flipping and shirt removal can distract you from the fact this is a five minute, five dollar film. Give it a wide berth if you're a Tim Winton fan.

Couldn't stop watching it, got through all the episodes in a single sitting. Love it!

Absolutely loved this series, watched it all in a single day. The characters and their relationship with each other is so touching. Not a single dull moment in any of the episodes. I watched with tears in my eyes and plenty of laughter.
