Not a bad movie but it's basic premise is simply not believable. Clint is simply too old in years to play the parts he's casting himself in. He's 91 and although he seems to be relatively healthy, he looks very fragile, frail and his voice is nothing more than a gravelly whisper. Although I don't recall his age being mentioned in the movie, no one in their right mind would send someone of his advanced years to retrieve a thirteen year old in Mexico. Secondly, the romance between him and the cantina owner is a complete farce. She may have said she was a grandmother but she looks young enough to be his grand daughter. There are many other "that would never happen" instances where his age kept me from believing what the movie was trying to portray.
Being a Clint Eastwood fan all my life, I couldn't help but feel like I was watching the last performance of a Hollywood icon. As "The Shootist" was the great John Wayne's last movie roll, "Cry Macho" should be Clint's last. I certainly hope he can hang around a while longer, he just needs to call it a day on the acting side of the camera.
