Was it a great movie? No. Was it a good movie? Yes. I would even watch it again. The plot was predictable, but lets face it we are running low on new ideas that don't cross over into unforgivable territory. I thought that their acting was done well for a Netflix Original. There are sundown towns that still exist to this day, as well as racist white people. I don't know why everyone gets weird about it being portrayed. Not every person in the movie presented as racists anyway, in fact I'm pretty sure it only painted 3 that way (2 outwardly, 1 cryptic-ish). I think the idea was to present the issues that anyone would face (in this super specific scenario) and had to handle themselves the way anyone would, but on top of everything else had to come face to face with racism. It adds a layer that many of the global majority have to face every single day. Giving 5 stars because I adore Queen Latifah, otherwise it would get 4.
