This documentary really, really hit close to home for me. I've been preaching these negative consequences since 2010. I deleted my Facebook account in 2010 because of all the negativity/hate, data tracking/analytics, poor mental health, need for approval, and so many more deleterious effects. I'm VERY VERY happy that Netflix put this documentary together. It needed to be said!! Everybody thought I was bat-$hit crazy when I deleted every form of social media a decade ago for all of these reasons. I only have Snapchat now to communicate with my boyfriend, and a Linkedin account from a few years ago because my career required it. I abhor using my phone and I love to disconnect. My mental health has never been better or stronger. I love to ACTUALLY COMMUNICATE with people and not send impersonal messages with emojis, which oftentimes get misconstrued. I would absolutely not give my kids cell phones or social media, even though ironically I work at Verizon where I am surrounded by technology. EVERYBODY should watch this documentary and get the wakeup call this country so desperately needs. Kids are underperforming in school, have no attention spans, and are being RUINED because of social media.
