i love this movie so, so much. it's no doubt the best movie i have ever had the honor to watch. i love movies that slowly reveal things up until the end and then leave the ending up for interpretation--and that's exactly what as you are does. the story of the lives of two troubled teenage boys, it clearly takes place in the nineties without constantly reminding you so. as a lover of nineties music (and, of course, nirvana) i love how it sort of connects to the band, even in the title (you know the song come as you are?). kurt cobain's death is mentioned, giving a date to go around too, late '93 to early '94. [potential spoiler follows?] i love how the ending--as bitter as it is--connects to kurt cobain's death as well. did he kill himself? or did courtney (or jack, in this case) kill him? (i don't believe in the conspiracies myself, but you know)
