I live in the UK and have read most of Stephen King’s work from being about 14. I’m pushing 60 now! I was instantly hooked and a lot of his early work is still in my top reads as are some of the screen adaptations. I have also read a great many other authors. I stopped reading King for a while and moved on to different authors. One of my particular favourites at the moment are the epic Century & Kingsbridge collections by Ken Follett. I generally only read on holiday. I get totally engrossed so can’t do the “few pages a night” stuff. On a recent holiday I decided to go back to Stephen King and read LATER. It was OK. I then read The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead, which was wonderful.
I had some more time so I looked again and I’m not sure why I picked The Institute, I didn’t read any reviews and just skimmed the summary. I thought I’d give it a go…
If you are a Stephen King fan, I guarantee you will absolutely love this book. I’m 14 again and reading with awe and wonderment. Read the whole thing in two days. It is the best thing I have read in years. You can’t put it down!!
Not sure how non-King fans would take to it. I’m trying to persuade my wife to read it. She is an avid reader, has never read Stephen King but her favourite movie is The Green Mile!! Go figure as they say!
I might even listen to the audiobook and I do hope the series doesn’t disappoint.
