First of all, this review is objective as I am not a Star Wars lover or hater, I got this game as it seemed interesting to have an open world experience in the Star Wars universe.
TL;DR: if you are looking to be immersed in a Star Wars universe, this game lets you do that, if you are looking for a game with amazing gameplay, this isn't it. It isn't worth the full price at AUD99.95, but would consider for 60-70% off or via Ubisoft sub.
The storyline is good but also very predictable, not that it is a pro or a con, just a statement. Personally, trusting someone you barely met with your ship (albeit stolen) is a very big leap of faith, as everyone has an agenda.
I played on an AMD RX 6600 & Ryzen 5 3600, with 32 GB of RAM and an SSD, and whilst I could play a recent game like "Black Myth: Wukong" without any issues, Star Wars Outlaws was a bit of a let down:
- dropped frames during battles or driving the speeder
- crashes once per day
- loading sometime takes 30-60 seconds
Admittedly, my setup isn't the best but I also didn't expect to have so much issues with this game.
Now comes the bugs, every game has bugs, but for AUD 99.95, I expected less bugs:
- as mentioned above, crashes at least once per day
- going up some terrain causes some weird stuttering on the MC
- some slicing don't open the door / computer, you have to restart the game entirely for it to start working, by then you have to redo the whole infiltration
- sometimes you die from falling from less than 2m
Then there is QoL that are also not great:
- skipping the take offs or landing doesn't skip at all, the whole sequence is about 30-35 seconds, and skip maybe 5 seconds as it still goes through most of the take off of 30 seconds, and skips only when you are already in space
- requires a constant connection to Ubisoft servers, which isnt such a problem but sometimes Ubisoft fails to sync whilst you play and it immediately just closes the game
- riding the speeder locks the mouse movements to the speeder, so you can't just look around without making a sudden turn, which is very annoying, you have to deal with a 2second animation to get off the speeder so you can just look around.
Other things I found a bit weird:
- when you "knock out" people from stealth mode, its a bit silly that you punch storm troopers helmet with your bare fist, but they resist a blaster headshot
- you can use your blaster, and NPCs within 100m might come around, but beyond that, they dont really give a shit even tho part of their based are getting attacked
- no way to disarm / disable / destroy AT-ST Walker, you pretty much just have to hide and run, grenades or machine guns do nothing against it
Probs more things to write about but this is the gist.
