Watch this as a comedy and you might enjoy it. The plot and script are very weak and much of the acting is not much better.

Worth watching for the Humans/Dwarves/Elves vs forces of evil conflict - especially some amazing large-scale battles. However, the Harfoot sections are extremely poorly plotted, scripted and cast. They move very slowly, very little of interest happens and several of the actors don't seem to be that bothered about using their acting skills. I can't believe that someone, somewhere didn't step in and point out that the multimillion dollar budget should be able to buy a much better quality outcome. Having waited with such excitement for so long, I found myself wanting to switch off at some points, as the latest embarrassingly-weak Harfoot section developed, with its cringeworthy attempts at English West Country accents. Due to affection for the Tolkien stories, I will watch Season 2, but do hope that some quality control is applied to plot and script.
