This book is absolutely terrible. Me and my classmates couldn't connect with the main character-Melinda. Me and my friends have read Fanfiction better than this! Melinda is a terrible protagonist. Ironically the title is the action she should've took in the first place: SPEAK! And don't believe for one minute that this is what happens in actual high schools and teenagers deal with these issues. These other reviews are false with tainted admiration due to the topic at hand-rape. I had to spend money for this for a damn english class?! What a waste, should've had us read better works such as The Giver by Lois Lowry, give that a try.
