What a disappointment. It started off well, but rapidly just becomes "let's talk about our feeeeliiiiings" rather than anything of substance. Also a character has been given a whole new backstory and race-swapped to boot with an "opera singer" whose singing I always felt the need to skip the moment I heard it. How we went from a show where both the villains and heroes all have their own fleshed out perspectives and motivations, beautifully interwoven subplots and downright flawless writing to this complete mess is beyond me. From the subtle and ingenious manipulation of a man from general to slave to a show that brings the whole thing to a halt for an entire episode just to give a backstory that could be summed up in a couple sentences, what a complete disappointment. Nobody in this is endearing, nobody in this is interesting, Richter having no surviving family isn't even brought up until an off-handed mention that feels like a complete afterthought. It's a castlevania show where the belmont is an afterthought and a character changed so much they're basically a fanfic OC is given centre-stage. Thanks, I hate it.
