Kelli Garner and Susan Sarandon both deserve academy awards for their stellar performances on this monster of mental illness which so few have knowledge of, including critics. For four years I have studied schizophrenia and interviewed families of voice hearing groups, as well as those plagued by this awful illness and if I were instructing a class on mental health, I would use clips from this film to demonstrate the behaviours ... it is that accurate.
I like how the two ladies compare information in the restaurant about their paranoia, as most victims of this illness are too paranoid to trust anyone, so they are unable to discuss their fears.
I have also seen most Monroe films and listened to the commentaries of directors and costars. In addition to adding light humour to the part, making her performance more entertaining for the audience, Garner's performance most accurately mirrors that of what I have seen of the famous star, herself.
***** Very well done, ladies! *****
