Mel Gibson is an anti-Semitic misogynist who takes his religion’s self-flagellating history a little far (Braveheart, Payback, et al.). Nevertheless, he has made an outstanding film on many levels. Like others who have commented, I have seen the movie more than once, and it’s one of those films that shows you new aspects on each viewing. Gibson’s a jerk, but that has not prevented him from making a film that will stand the test of time, like Citizen Kane and others.
